OnSSI (On-Net Surveillance Systems)

OnSSIFounded in 2002 with the goal of developing comprehensive and intelligent IP video surveillance management software, OnSSI's company mission is to increase security, reduce operating costs, and provide operators with better detection and prevention. By applying the same principles of voice-over IP to transfer huge amounts of data over IP lines, founders Gadi Piran and Mulli Diamant had a hand in revolutionizing video delivery. The result of their research and development has propelled the IP VMS industry and elevated OnSSI to being a leader in physical security information management.

OnSSI's award-winning IP-based surveillance software, Ocularis, supports a continuously updated roster of IP cameras and encoders and is raising safety standards around the globe. The flexibility and functionality of Ocularis suits a range of applications in education, gaming, government, healthcare, manufacturing, public safety, transportation and utilities. It is found in systems ranging from single-installation setups for small businesses to complex, multi-server installations for global conglomerates with multiple locations.

On-Net Surveillance SystemsBeing a truly open architecture, Ocularis can work across most hardware platforms. The three models of Ocularis—Professional Enterprise and Ultimate—are designed to handle all types of security demands. Regardless of an operation's scale, Ocularis platforms provide the kind of surveillance intelligence that has proven crucial in real world situations.

Taking advantage of seamless integrations with over 300 technology partners in video analytics, access control, license plate recognition, point of sale and more, Ocularis fuses meaningful events and lets users monitor multiple security applications under a single, user-friendly and powerful interface. Ocularis supports a very high number of cameras per server and it automatically balances the load between hard drives while at the same time allowing users to prioritize cameras if they are experiencing hard-drive space limitations. The recording process uses hard drives more efficiently and can eliminate the need for high-performance (SAS) drives in most applications.

In 2015, the company acquired SeeTec AG, which had developed a highly efficient recorder technology. The acquisition enabled OnSSI to transition from an OEM solution for its recording software to one whose destiny the company controls. The acquisition allowed OnSSI to bring a completely independent VMS product, fully owned by OnSSI, to market in the form of Ocularis 5.0.

In September 2015, OnSSI debuted Ocularis 5.1, the new features of which include:

  • Server-based motion detection
  • Stronger network security with encryption between clients and servers
  • Better storage management with support for a very high number of cameras per server, automatic optimization of hard drive volumes and load balancing across multiple storage components
  • Scrambled video database for better protection of video evidence
  • Simpler and easier installation and licensing with no requirement to register cameras and their MAC addresses

OnSSI also offers a variety of add-on enhancements for Ocularis to give companies even more control and mobility.
